Method MMK A2 605/SS27100 – Construction Product Testing for Concrete/Aggregates

Construction Products Regulation and Radiation Protection Act

Testing of hazardous substances – radioactive radiation – in stone-based construction products must be carried out by producers to comply with the EU Construction Products Regulation No. 305/2011 and the new Swedish Radiation Protection Act (2018:396).

Construction Product Testing of Hazardous Substances – Radioactive Radiation

Method SS 27100 is developed for concrete and aggregate producers’ construction product testing of hazardous substances – radioactive radiation – in accordance with the Construction Products Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011 and the new Swedish Radiation Protection Act (2018:396).

Method SS 27100 is accredited by Sweden’s accreditation body Swedac for the testing of stone-based construction products. The method’s accreditation is valid internationally throughout the EU.

Method SS 27100 provides concrete and aggregate producers the opportunity to ensure that legal and trade requirements are met. Construction product testing of hazardous substances – radioactive radiation – according to accredited method SS 27100 ensures that the construction product is controlled in accordance with legal requirements.

MMK’s construction product testing of hazardous substances – radioactive radiation – is carried out using a non-destructive method in accordance with industry standards SS-EN 206 requirements for test specimens.

Test results are obtained within one week after testing is performed in MMK’s laboratory. The results are reported in the form of activity index, radium index, and gamma radiation dose.

The testing provides an accredited radiation report and radon assessment MMK’s accredited test results can be used as a basis for self-monitoring or regulatory reporting as well as product certification. Testing with method SS 27100 provides both an accredited radiation report and a radon assessment.
